Holiday Poster Contest project grade See past winner samples.
Class grade to have reference pictures and 3 thumbnail samples in your sketchbook. It does not count towards a sketchbook check. This project will be made on a standard size sheet of paper provided by Mrs. Jones.
Requirements: No words, focus on 3 elements/principles of art and listed on back 15, use perspective 15, good use of contrast 20, well composition and design 20, complete 20, no copy righted images, and on back list: name, SGC, teacher, class 10. Total 100 points for a project grade.
Drawing Unit:
Pen and Ink techniques Andreas Preis is a designer, illustrator & artist, currently living and working Berlin that we will be studying. Some other famous artist who use cross-hatching, hatching, and stippling are: Albrecht Durer and Francesco Bartolozzi. Video: Pen and Ink techniques
In your sketchbook for a bell ringer grade draw four cubes and do the video tutorial label and try each technique with a pen: hatching, cross-hatching, free/scribble, and stippling. Also, draw a value scale with a pencil labeled 0-10 with 0 being nothing to 10 being 100% solid black.
Project Rubric: 100 points total The subject matter will be yourself OR a picture of someone that you know. Not a famous pre-exciting character or something that is copyrighted.
You need to use 2 pen and ink techniques for this project that use a wide range of value. 30 pts Use of value added after the ink drawing is rendered. 15 pts You will have to use the grid technique that we will start next class for the project. 20 pts Use well composition- meaning that the space on the page is used and works well together and that the artwork feels complete. 20 pts Artist signature created and hidden somewhere in your art. 10 pts Name and block lightly written on the back bottom left corner 5 pts
2 Drawing pencils or #2 pencils 1 Eraser (pink pearl or white) 1 sketchbook 1 roll masking tape 1 roll paper towels
Optional supplies:
Tissues Disinfectant Wipes Art smock/cover-up to protect clothing - i.e. old T-shirt
Grade breakdown:
Production/Creating 50% Classwork/Practice 20% Sketchbooks 20% Homework, and Quizzes 10%
For a student to earn an “A” for the daily or weekly participation grade the student is expected to work on projects, assignments, cleanup after oneself, and be active with class discussions. Working while talking is acceptable but talking and not working is not. If a student is absent they will not be responsible for participation grade for that day, but are still responsible to makeup work.
Progress reports:
When progress reports are sent home they will be required to be signed and returned for a homework grade that the student is accountable for.
Projects:
Art is a project based class that is graded with rubrics, critiques, test, quizzes, etc. Clear expectations are always set at the beginning with reasonable deadlines.
