Project 1: Fontbots! Students will select a font type to create their own creature in Adobe Photoshop (PS). This is a fun way to introduce typography, contrast, balance, and basic tools in photoshop: rotate, copy, paste, skew, mirror, select tool, marquee tool, and layers.
Rubric for grading will be discussed in class.

Project 2: Express yourself color wheel! Students will take pictures of themselves using Photo Booth then pick the best 12 images that match color with mood/expressions. Colors can be powerful and can make you feel things that you might not realize. Students will use PSE to manipulate, edit, transform, and change color filters to create their color and mood study.

Project 3: Let's Get Animated. Students will learn how to make an animated .gif made for the internet. Finish projects will be uploaded to this site in a gallery. A brief history of animation with the evolution will be presented in class along with some influential animators. Loney Toons, Pixar, and Disney will be discussed.

Homework: to think of something that you would like to animate and draw it on computer paper.
Project 4: T-shirt Designer. Students will pretend... no never mind pretend... students will be real T-shirt designers to create their own design, which will become a real T-shirt. Iron-on full color images will be printed for students to make their own custom T-shirt. Students need to bring in their own T-shirt or clothing item to have an iron-on printed.
Homework: Students bring in their own article of clothing or accessory to be able to have their art ironed on from SGC print shop.
Project 5: Creative Self-Portraits. Students look at Vermeer as inspiration to create a digital painting using wacom tablets and painting techniques in PSE to create a self-portrait that shows how they see themselves.

Project 7: Digital Doodle'n. Tablet time with layers and drawing like the professionals. This lesson is a part 2 to creative portraits and digital rendering to further explore creative freedoms with the wacom Tablets. Students will look at successful digital artists from Pixar, Chris Oatley, and create their own work of art. This project is based on choice of expression to promote creativity and personal interest.
